Good governance is about leaders, first, realizing and admitting that resources are held in trust on behalf of the people and then managing the resources with probity, accountability and transparency to produce the most public goods in the most social-cost- and social-benefit-effective, and sustainable manner.

Good governance is about creating the environment for all willing and able citizens to maximize or realize their God-given potentials. It is about equitable development of people and communities. It is about creating the environment for private enterprise to flourish.

Good governance is about protecting the rights of the people to affordable, good, secured and balanced food; guaranteeing the right of the people to good and affordable healthcare; and, providing the people with qualitative, functional and affordable education. It is about freedom of speech, association, and information. It is about the right to free political choice. It is about promoting and ensuring eco-friendly and sustainable environment.

In sum, it is about accountability, probity, and transparency in public procurement. It is about procuring the priority needs of the led, not that of the leader. It is about fiscal responsibility. It is about exploiting the natural resources in sustainable manner, taking into account the interest of the generations yet unborn. It is about freedom in all its dimensions – from poverty, diseases, illiteracy, hunger, oppression, war, and insecurity; freedom of choice, association, and speech. It is about focus on the people and the environment now and in the future.
